Cultural exchange programme held

When culture comes into contact with each others, a type of cultural give and take inevitably happens which in turn helps in enrichment of cultures.
But when a culture remains in isolation it is doomed to extinction.
This was stated by IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip while addressing the 1st cultural exchange programme organized by Mayangkhang Area Youth Organization (MAYO) under the theme 'Culture and Communal Harmony' today at Thangal Ecological Park, Mayang-khang, Senapati.
The Minister regretted that difference in culture and identity issues are sometimes used to foment violence and hatred among the people much against the principle of the religions the public hold dear to their hearts.
Ngamthang also stressed the need to develop mutual respects of culture for peaceful coexistence and cultural integration.
K Laksmi Kanta Sharma, ADM Senapati attended the function as the guest of honour while Th Sanglou, MFS was the functional president.
In his keynote address, Mayangkhang Area Youth Organization president said that the main goal of the programme is to bring closer all the communities dwelling within the Mayangkhang area and promote better mutual understanding through cultural exchange.
Various CSOs leaders, village chiefs, Church leaders and students participated in the cultural exchange programme which was marked by cultural dances, folk songs, traditional talent competition and serving of indigenous snacks.
