Imphal, April 29 2024: Gold paste worth Rs 70.31 lakh has been seized from the possession of an individual by a combined team of the Anti-Smuggling Unit of Customs Division Imphal, Air Intelligence Unit and CISF at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal on Sunday afternoon.

According to a statement issued by Customs Division, Imphal today, the combined team, acting on a specific tip off, managed to apprehend the individual along with a packet of gold paste from inside the airport complex.

From the airport, the individual was taken to the office of Customs Division, Imphal for investigation and necessary legal action.

There at the office, two other packets in the shape of eggs and enclosed inside rubber sheaths were found concealed inside the man's rectum.

The total weight of the three packets of gold paste smuggled from a foreign country is 972.28 grams and its market value is Rs 70,31,601 .
