Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament Festival : Venue shifted from Assembly to MU

Imphal, March 26 2025: Just minutes before a scheduled Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament Festival 2025 was held at the State Legislative Assembly Hall today, the venue was changed following an instruction from the Centre.

The Festival, which was scheduled to be held at the Assembly hall was shifted to Manipur University, Canchipur.

Notably, the Centre had written to State Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Satyabrata to organise the Youth Parliament and subsequently, it was scheduled to be held at the Assembly hall today.

The Manipur University NSS cell, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Ministry of Youth Affairs and the State had already sent out invitations for the Youth Parliament Festival.

Today, dignitaries, Speaker Th Satyabrata, MU Vice Chancellor Professor N Lokendra, Hill Areas Committee Chairman, several MLAs, a large number of students and media persons who had been invited had arrived at the Assembly to attend the event.

However, minutes before the scheduled time, the venue was changed to Manipur University.

Sources said the Centre's High Command had instructed the Governor not to organise the event at the Assembly venue.

When called over the phone, Th Satyabrata informed that the instruction was sent from the "higher ups" .

"As the State Legislative Assembly is under suspended animation, instruction was received from the higher ups not to hold the event in the Assembly venue," he said.

Speaker Th Satyabrata, other MLAs, dignitaries including MU VC Professor N Lokdenra attended the festival at Manipur University campus.
