High Court hears election petition MLA Arun asked to file documents

Hearing an election petition, the High Court of Manipur has directed former Minister Okram Henry and Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arunkumar to file their respective list of witnesses and documents on or before April 25 .
A single bench of Ahanthem Bimol was hearing the election petition filed by Okram Henry against Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arunkumar and two others, Yumkham Erabot and RK Priyobarta.
The election petition alleged that Thangjam Arunkumar had failed to disclose material information in the affidavit he filed along with his nomination paper for contesting the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election from 15-Wangkhei Assembly Constituency in 2022 .
The election petition accused Thangjam Arunkumar of committing corrupt practice and alleged that he had failed to disclose detailed information of his spouse's profession among other details.
The petition sought to declare Okram Henry as the returned candidate of 15-Wangkhei Assembly Constituency.
While the Court ordered the petitioner and respondents to file their lists of witnesses and documents on or before April 25, the next date of hearing, counsels appearing for Yumkham Erabot and RK Priyobarta submitted that they will not file any list of witnesses and documents.
Ajoy Pebam, counsel appearing for the petitioner Okram Henry and H S Paonam, senior counsel appearing for the respondent Thangjam Arunkumar submitted that they will file their list of witnesses and documents within one week.
