Imphal East District Police Commandos today arrested a man who allegedly printed the letter heads of the proscribed KCP Ningamba faction.
Besides the seizure of three computer sets and other paraphernalia used in the printing, a 108-paged memorandum sent to UNO by the outfit on August 10 last, one letter addressed to Naga rebel group NSCN (I-M) seeking military and financial assistance and a large number of demand notes, press releases and cash receipt books of the outfits have also been reportedly recovered from the possession of the arrested man identified as Konthoujam Baleshwar Singh (37) s/o late Biren of Kongba Ucheckon.
According to police, the outfit has been printing these documents with the help of the computer sets at the Type Writing Institution and Computer Training Education Centre run by Baleshwar from Kongba Bazar.
Baleshwar was arrested from the said training centre at around 1.30 pm today along with three computer sets, two printers and one Generator set.
Parading Baleshwar and displaying the seizure before mediapersons at Imphal East District Police Headquarters, Porompat later during the day, SP Th Radheshyam Singh said that on receiving a special tip off that around 100 printed letter heads of an underground outfit are to be transported from the computer centre of Baleshwar, Police Commandos have been lying in wait since early morning.
Though no one was seen coming to pick up the printed letter heads, Baleshwar was finally arrested along with these incriminating docu-ments.
It has been established that Baleshwar has been in this trade since March this year at the behest of self styled chief project officer cum secretary information and public relations of the proscribed KCP Ibungo Ngangom who has been deported from Sawija Jail to Tihar Jail yesterday morning and the self styled finance secretary Nando Luwang.
Till date, uncountable number of such incriminating documents have been printed from his computer centre, the SP further informed.
Terming today�s arrest and seizure as a great achievement, the SP hoped it would help in minimising the difficulties being faced by the general public as a result of extortion demands from the outfit.
Among the seizure on display, there was also a booklet that detailing the history of KCP.
According to the book, KCP had been established in 1980 under the leadership of one Ng Babu Meetei and today there are three factions of the outfit including KCP (MC).
One of the factions led by Ningamba has around 40 cadres, the one led by Noyon has 60 cadres and the other faction led by KK Nganba as only 20 cadres.
The booklet further mentioned that the faction led by 32-year old Ningamba (an IT graduate from Sikkim Manipal University, Himachal Pradesh, expelled from UNLF and currently serving jail term) has 5 AK Rifles, one M-16 Rifles, one folding carbine, two grenade launchers and 12 other small arms of different calibre.
The copy of the memorandum submitted to the United Nations by the outfit was signed by its politburo chief Ningamba, M Senjam, deputy chairman Pritambara M Thokchomba and members Ibungo Ngangom, Ibomcha M Laishram and Angamba and it presented an account of the history of Manipur, geographical setting and the political strategies and ideologies of the outfit among others.
