NIPCO celebrates foundation day

National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) celebrated its 15th foundation day today at Ima conference hall, Keishampat.
NIPCO president M Medun Maring; advisor K Lanngamba Meitei; former UCM president Y Nabachandra; retired Lecturer, GP Women's College and social worker Rose Mangshi Haokip; NIPCO advisor and UCM vice president Sunil Karam and L Khuplar Kom, advisor, NIPCO graced the foundation event as presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion Sunil Karam said NIPCO has been working to strengthen ties between the hill and valley people for the last 15 years.
Supporting the three Bills passed by the State Assembly, Sunil said, the Bills when enacted, will safeguard the interest of the indigenous settlers of Manipur.
Expressing disappointment with the turn of events in the aftermath of passing the three Bills, Sunil said, the Kuki community cannot deny the fact that the said Bills do not harm the interest of the hill tribals.
He further urged civil organisations in hill districts to hold dialogues with other valley organisations and the State Government regarding the content of the Bills.
Commenting on the Naga peace agreement signed between the Government of India and NSCN (IM), Sunil said the ambiguity of the contents of the framework have fuelled communal sentiments amongst the people.
Demanding transparency of the framework, the committee advisor said the people will reject any framework that harms the territorial integrity of the State.
