Imphal, September 13 2015:
Saying that no ministers have visited Churachandpur district after the recent violent incident occurred following the passing of three bills in the Manipur Legislative Assembly, former MP Kim Gangte has said the Chief Minister needs to visit the hills and take stock of the current situation there.
Alleging that the Churachandpur District Hospital where the bodies of the Churachandpur incident victims are being kept now is in a bad condition, Kim Gangte expressed the need for good Governance to make a peaceful and developed society.
"If this situation continuous to linger, we don't know what will be our future," said the former MP.
She said the untold hardships faced by the hill people need attention.
Kim Gangte also blamed the MLAs for not visiting their own constituencies at difficult times and said that visiting their constituencies only in election time will not bring any development.
Condemning the statement of one MLA who alleged that the recent violent incident in Churachandpur district was incited by a few people, Gangte stated that Churachandpur violence was erupted since Nagas and Kukis were not consulted before passing the three bills.
Disagreeing with the fixation of 1951 as the cut off base year in the three Bills, Kim Gangte said that opinion and views of all the communities should have been taken into consideration in this regard since a State like Manipur is inhabited by many different groups.
