Imphal-Kangchup-Tamenglong road would be launched by Chief Minister O Ibobi at Kangchup Chiru on March 7 .
The new road which would be constructed with monetary assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) would reach Haflong in Assam and it would form a key link of the East-West Express Highway.
The new road would pass through 19 villages of Tamenglong and Senapati districts and it would be 43 Kms shorter than the existing Imphal-Khongshang-Tamenglong road, informed an official source.
Lands required for the 103 Kms long road were donated by land owners/villagers.
Nonetheless, if any dwelling houses and standing structures are affected by the road construction work, the Government would compensate land owners.
The new road would be a joint venture of the Hindustan Construction Company and the Venture Company Limited, and its estimated cost is Rs 114 crore.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar and MLA Janghemlung Pamei would also attend the function where the road construction work would be launched on March 7 .
