Cleanliness drive, lecture conducted

Assam Rifles on Saturday organised a cleanliness drive to promote hygiene and disease free living in Sangaikot village of Churachandpur district.
A release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the drive was aimed at promoting awareness on cleanliness in rural areas and as an endeavour to motivate and encourage the local populace keep their surroundings clean and litter free thus resulting in a disease free society.
A total of 14 villagers participated in the cleanliness drive, it mentioned.
Assam Rifles also conducted a motivational lecture on 'Importance of Education and Sports' at St Vincent School of Zoldam village which is situated near the Indo-Myanmar border in Chandel district.
According to the PRO, AR conducted the lecture with around 300 teachers, students and parents at the school on Monday as part of the efforts to reach out to the youth of the region.
During the event the importance of formal educa tion and regular physical activities through games and sports was highlighted, added the PRO.
