Kakching, February 22 2024:
CCIAN Forum Peace Committee on Thursday extended essential items to the village volunteers at Uyumpok Nongsum village, which is close to erstwhile Kuki-populated Khamenlok village, in Imphal East district.
Speaking on the sidelines of the distribution event, a village volunteer named Konjengbam Abung of LJyumpok Nongsum vehemently condemned alleged warning issued by the Assam Rifles for removal of the base camp of the Pambei-led UNLF from Uyumpok Nongsum.
He questioned why the AR is not taking similar action as the Kuki militants are also setting up base camps nearby and affirmed that the villagers will never allow removal or relocation of the Pambei led-UNLF camp from its present location.
Abung also expressed gratitude to the CCIAN Forum for providing material and extending moral support to the volunteers as well as for their continuous efforts to restore peace and normalcy in the state.
Thursday's assistance is for the third time the CCIAN Committee reached out to the village volunteers of Uyumpok Nongsum.
