Govt sets target to complete 2nd phase of Kangla Nongpok Torban project by March

Imphal, February 22 2024:
Major portion of the construction work of Kangla Nongpok Torban from Kangla eastern gate upto Kekrupat near North AOC along Imphal River bank is completed, said Chairman of Planning and Development Authority (PDA) Lourembam Rameshwor Meetei.
L Rameshwor, who is the MLA of Keirao Constituency, inspected the second phase of Kangla Nongpok Torban construction project along with the engineers of the PDA in the evening, today.
Speaking to the media by the sideline of the inspection drive, he continued that PDA is the implementing agency of the project which is carried out under Imphal Smart City Limited with an estimated cost of Rs 48 crore approximately.
Saying that the riverfront stretch will be handed over to the public once the fixing of tiles is finished, he added that the Government has set a target to complete the project by next month (March) .
He went on to state that two towers and a 'Poatak Hiden' mentioned in archaic text 'Puya' will also be erected along Kangla Nongpok Torban.
Saying that open gym, walking track, cycling track, exercise arena, food plaza and kiosks and performance stage which were included in the first phase of the project are included in the second phase, the MLA continued that a toilet complex has also been built for the visitors.
