Kachai Lemon Festival concludes

The 20th edition of Kachai Lemon Festival was held at Kachai village under the theme 'Organic Kachai Lemon for sustainable Livelihood' from February 19 till 21, 2024 .
The 3-day festival was inaugurated by Apinao Muivah who is the better half of outer MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze in the presence District Forest Officer (DFO) Ukhrul Shanngam Shaliwo; Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Rohini Kumar and Krishi Vigyan Kendra - Indian Council of Agricultural Research (KVK-ICAR) Ukhrul scientists and experts.
The festival was sponsored and supported by NEC through EBADA Manipur, MOMA, MIDH, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Tourism, MACS, ICAR Imphal, Co-operative Dept and Ukhrul District Administration.
RK Mayasang, chairman of Kachai Fruit Farming & Processing Co-operative Society Ltd (KFFPCS) while speaking during the festival highlighted that the financial income of Kachai lemon farmers has increased to a great extent due to huge production of Kachai lemons.
As per the reports compiled by KFFPCS, RK Mayasang informed that Kachai villagers have planted more than 1.2 lakh Kachai lemon plants in the village and this year, the annual lemon production has been increased to 400 tonnes from 250 tonnes.
As a part of the festival, competitions were held under three categories namely Best Kachai Lemon, Best Exhibitors and Best Management.
Notably, the second day of the festival was marked by a capacity building programme for farmers focusing on banking and financing aspects.
