Biswajit releases PMGSY calendar

Imphal, December 29 2019: Rural Development and Pancha-yati Raj Minister Thongam Biswajit released a wall calendar and a table calendar for the year 2020 showing the projects taken up in Manipur under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) scheme, at his official residence at Sanjenthong today.

The two calendars were published by Rural Engineering Department/ Mani- pur State Rural Roads Development Agency (RED/MSRRDA) .

Speaking to media persons, Minister Biswajit said that the PMGSY projects under are being executed successfully and efficiently in the State.

From 2000 to 2016, a total 6,713 Kilometres of road was constructed with Rs 2,330 crore from the Ministry concerned.

From 2017 to 2019, Rs 3,037 was sanctioned for the construction of 4,970 Kilometres of road, out of which around 43 percent has been completed till date.

He informed that out of 215 projects (183 roads and 32 bridges) under the PMGSY I, 60 roads and 4 bridges have been completed during the current financial year.

The Ministry has also approved 56 projects under PMGSY II and planning is underway for processing necessary e-tender.

RED/MSRRDA Chief Engineer Th Nandakishore and other officials were also present at the function.
