Imphal, December 29 2019:
All Manipur Democratic Womens' Association (AMDWA) secretary Ayekpam Ashabala, who is participating in the 12th National conference of All India Democratic Womens' Association at Mumbai, addresssed the August gathering (AIDWA) today.
The draft report of the conference was placed by the general secretary of AIDWA, Comrade Mariam Dhawale, said a press release issued by joint secretary of AMDWA.
The report underlined womens' movement launched by women organisations, particularly AEDWA and its affiliates, across the country, it said.
Introducing the draft report, she maintained that women are not getting their legitimate rights even though they are enshrined in the Constitution.
She demanded that 33 percent seats in Parliament and legislature should be reserved for women.
AMDWA secretary Ashabala alleged that the recently passed CAA is against the Indian Constitution and the law will affect the sentiments and interests of the people in the entire North East region despite the Government's declaration that the region would not be affected.
