JSA and CITU condole the demise of Dr Amit Sengupta

Chairman of Jan Swsathya Abiyan (JSA), Manipur and leader of CITU Kshetrimayum Santa , condole the demise of Dr Amit Sengupta founding member of Jan Swasthya Abhiyan who passed away when celebrating his marriage anniversary in Goa due to swimming accident at a seashore.
Dr Amit Sengupta was a doyen of People's Science Movement and People's Health Movement Worldwide, a message said.
It added that Dr Amit Sengupta had spearheaded the People's Health Assembly-4 , Dhaka which was held from November 15-19, 2018 .
Dr Amit Sengupta was among the prominent leaders of Delhi Science Forum and Jan Wsathya Abiyan in India.
He worked for more than 30 years with various social movements around the world on the issues of Science and Society, especially his unabated dedication in the activities of JSA and All India People's Science Network is immeasurable.
His demise will be an inconsolable loss for those who stand for the cause of better society, the condolence message added.
Dr Amit Sengupta was a regular contributor to Newsclick in various capacities.
He vociferously advocated for the need for scientific temper and was at the forefront of the movement for access to health for all.
People's Health Movement is a global network bringing together grassroot health activists , Civil society organisations, Researchers and Accademic Institutions.
Dr Amit Sengupta has always played a significant role in Global Health as Convener JSA.
Today the democratic movement in India and the health movement as a whole has lost an extremely committed voice.
