A group of unidentified persons attacked and stabbed to death a Kuki student at Shillong on the night of July 13.The deceased has been identified as Allan Mark Haominlen Chongloi @ Romeo, (19) son of Kamchon Chongloi of T Thangkan village, Sadar Hill, Manipur, who was reading BA first year at St.
Edmund's College .
Police are yet to identified and book the culprits who perpetrated the crime.
Kuki Students' Organisation, General Headquarters condemned the heinous crime and urge the Chief Minister of Manipur to intervene so as to guarantee security of students from Manipur in the city.
In a press statement Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), General Headquarters, signed by President, KSO-GHQ, Peter H Mate and Secretary General, KSO-GHQ, Lal Robul Pudaite condemned in strongest term the brutal murder of KSO member, Allan Mark Haominlen Chongloi @ Romeo, (19) son of Kamchon Chongloi of T Thangkan village, Sadar Hill, Manipur by some unidentified person at Shillong last night.
The deceased was reading in BA 1st year at St Edmund's College and was residing at Jinkieng, Shillong 14 .
The statement mentioned that Allan Mark Haominlen Chongloi was attacked and stabbed to death by a group of unidentified person on the night of July 13, the reason for the murder is yet to ascertain the death body was found dumped in a drain opposite to the Mandariting Police station, Shillong.
KSO expressed utter dismay at the inhuman and heinous manner in which Allan Mark Haominlen Chongloi was murdered at Shillong, which KSO described as important centre of learning for entire northeast region of India.
Charging the government of Meghalaya, KSO asserted that outsiders are often targeted and attacked in Shilong by local people as they often take law into their own unchecked and reign havoc with the lives of outsiders who have come in pursuit of higher and better education in the city.
The KSO disagreed to term that murder of Allan Mark Haominlen Chongloi as a stray incident.
The KSO, urged the Government of Meghalaya for all necessary measures to ensure a free and secured environment for students hailing from other states and to prevent recurrence of such incident in the city.
They also pressed upon the Government of Meghalalya to take up the murder case on priority basis to book and punish the culprits under law of the land.
At the same time they have also sought the intervention of Chief Minister of Manipur to guarantee security to the students from Manipur in the city at his capacity.
The KSO also shared the grief and pain of the family members of slain Allan Mark Haominlen Chongloi, the press statement mentioned.
