Ibobi meets Sushilkumar on ILPS

In connection with the demand for enforcement of Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) in Manipur, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi called on Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde this afternoon.
The meeting assumes greater significance in view of the State Government's and the Manipur Legislative Assembly's resolution to extend the Eastern Bengal Frontier Regulation to Manipur and enforce ILPS in the State.
Earlier, the Union Home Ministry informed the State Government that ILPS should be confined in the States of Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, adding that it cannot be extended to Manipur.
The meeting between the Chief Minister and the Union Home Minister also deliberated on the law and order situation of Manipur, informed a source.
Later, the Chief Minister called on Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram and urged the latter to release Rs 300 crores for Other Central Assistance and another Rs 750 crores for Special Plan Assistance.
