Imphal, August 20 2023:
The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking an apology from Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
"To register our plights and demand justice to our academicians, mammoth rallies were held on 19th August, 2023 in all Kuki-inhabited areas of Manipur under the auspices of Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM)", said a memorandum submitted by KIM to the Prime Minister.
It unequivocally condemned the alleged prejudicial, senseless statement of Amit Shah, Union Home Minister.
According to KIM, Amit Shah openly showed his partiality towards Chief Minister N Biren Singh and his narratives while speaking on the Manipur issue in the Parliament recently by deliberately ignoring the crux of the current issue.
The Union Home Minister's insincerity to solve the problem and restore normalcy was implicitly reflec- ted in the speech, it alleged.
"We strongly demand that the Hon'ble Union Home Minister tender undue apology to the Kukis and his contempt speech should be expunged", it said.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah improperly unconscionably blamed the 'influx of Kukis' into Manipur and Mizoram for the violence.
The Union Home Minister was misled and, unfortunately, he chose to politicise the violence, KIM contended.
It also demanded withdrawal of cases and FIRs filed/registered against writers, scholars, academicians, leaders of Kuki community.
KIM even expressed doubt about the Union Home Minister's complicity in the violence; and, added that he is adding more fuel to the fire.
It reiterated that the present violence in Manipur has no link with the much-hyped 'influx' of Kukis into Manipur.
The Meiteis' insecurity ovrer 'influx of Kukis' from Myanmar into Manipur is overhyped, it maintained.
