Imphal, August 20 2023:
Shiv Sena State unit president M Tombi has claimed that the bunkers set up in hill districts are also to protect poppy plantations and harvest them without any disturbance in October.
A team of Shiv Sena, State unit went to the relief camp set up at Lamboikhongnangkhong and distributed blankets, exercise books, pens and materials for fogging to the inmates.
At the relief camp, M Tombi continued that the Government cracking down on poppy plantations is not out of prejudice but to protect the future generations of all Manipuris and save the environment.
Claiming that bunkers set up in hill districts are partly to protect poppy plantations, M Tombi said that the larger agenda behind the widespread poppy plantations is to wipe out an entire generation of Manipuris.
Saying that large-scale deforestation for poppy plantations has triggered a change in the climate pattern, M Tombi cautioned that poppy plantations, if continued, will turn Manipur into a desert.
He then appealed to all concerned to stop planting poppies in hill districts by thinking only of the easy money it can generate.
The Centre knows the circumstances which triggered the ethnic conflict by now and hopefully they will start taking up legal actions against the perpetrators very soon, Tombi said and added that Union Home Amit Shah is also aware of the situation in Manipur and the factors which ignited the ethnic clash.
Saying that the dream to disintegrate Manipur and establish a homeland for a particular community with concocted history will never yield fruits, M Tombi claimed that the very idea that land can be occupied by burning houses and attacking civilians is the pits.
Appealing to the Government to control the Kuki militants who extort money from drivers transporting essential items, he asked the Government to deploy Highway Protection Force along highway stretches for the safety of the drivers as well as the people.
