Lamka, August 04:
After evaluating several on-going projects in the district today, Senior Advisor to the Planning Commission of India, Jayenti Chandra has asked the media to continuously remind the Government to remember its promises to the people.
"If the Government promises that they will complete the project, you should continuously remind them of their promises, so that the pressure is on them to keep their promises," she told reporters when asked what she felt about the State Government's promise to complete the Khuga multi-purpose project before the end of this financial year.

"More than them, I trust the power of the media to make the people do the kind of work they should be doing in the first place," she said advising the media to be more proactive.
Initially announced to be completed by May-June the constantly extended Khuga dam deadline seems to be heading for another delay as the Advisor's version departd from the earlier deadline set by the State Government.
"I think there is some amount of sincerity now in the IFCD to complete the project at least the irrigation part of it before the end of this financial year," she said.
There were some problems in between, but the Department now seems to be absolutely keen on completing the project before the end of this financial year, she added.
Until and unless the local people realise the potentiality of whatever works and projects that are being taken up and the importance of being involved in the care and maintenance and up keeping, there will be positive result, she said apparently in reference to the need for involving the local people in executing developmental projects.
Upon inquiring the bespectacled lady who led the Planning Commission team said the purpose of their visit is to assess the developmental works being taken up in the State.
Other than Khuga Dam, the team also visited a couple of NREGS worksites and had a look in at the District Hospital OPD, a project under NEC funding.
During their visit the team interacted with some labourers and was of the impression that people are aware of NREGS.
Churachandpur District Contractors Association also submitted a memorandum to the team.
