Even as the Health Department has set up a team of doctors to find out the origin of Scrubtyphus ( a tick borne disease) that has affected a woman from Bishnupur currently under treatment at RIMS, report of another woman from Senapati district suffering from the same symptom has been admitted to the hospital today.
Talking to The Sangai Express in this connection today, Director of Health Department Dr W Motilal informed that although the Chief Medical Officer of Bishnupur has not yet given any official report on the matter, the Department has, nonetheless, set up a team of doctors to trace the origin of the disease.
An official of the Health Department, while informing that an expert team from the National Institute of Communicable Diseases had already studied the origin of the disease following reported death of some people from Scrubtyphus in Bishnupur district sometime earlier, disclosed that this particular disease has close connection with sanitation and hygiene.
Medical Superintendent of RIMS Prof Y Mohen explained that Scrubtyphus is spread through bite of tick borne infested on dog, cat and rodent and high fever and enlargement of gland are some of the common symptoms of the disease.
In case of suspected infection, it can be cured very easily without spending much money by taking Tetracycline, Dr Mohen said.
Meanwhile, another woman patient from Senapati showing symptoms of Scrubtyphus has been reportedly admitted in the medicine ward of RIMS today.
Blood sample from the woman patient identified as Ari Veino (48) w/o Solomon Veino has been taken and test conducted for further examination.
Interacting with this reporter, Solomon Veino informed that his wife was first taken to Raj Polyclinic for treatment after she having high fever following bite by some insect at the farm where she had gone along with him for work.
From Raj Polyclinic she was referred to RIMS today.
Solomon disclosed that he also has black spots on his leg after being bitten by the same type of insects and his temperature is running high.
Another woman identified as Nakha who works in the neighbouring farm too is undergoing treatment at home after insect bite, he disclosed.
