Kabui Council resolves to preserve tradition

Imphal, April 29 2024: Kabui Customary Council, Manipur informed that Khulbu, Khullakpa and Thoubei of Kabui villages held a meeting at Sawombung Kabui Khunjao on Sunday and resolved to.

protect, preserve and enhance the traditions of Kabui community.

In a release, president K Gangmumei Kabui informed that in view of gradual fading of culture and traditions of the Kabui, the Council has been working for preserving and protecting the same.

Disclosing that the main objective of the meeting was to affirm about the New Year's Day of the Kabui which some people observed in 'Wakching' (lunar calendar) and others in Sajibu, he said that the meeting resolved that 'Bai Chagan' or the first day of lunar month of 'Sajibu' would be the New Year's Day of the Kabui.

He also appealed to the Kabui people to light candles on the said day.
