Imphal, January 02 2025: Wakhallon Mannaba Apunba (WAMA), Kangleipak; Meetei National Front (MNF), Kangleipak; Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Ningshing Lup (LUGANIL); and R Suisa Trust will jointly observe the 18th death anniversary of Chingsubam Akaba at Integrity Park, Wakha Leima Ching, Imphal East on January 11.Informing this during a press meet, WAMA president Moirangthem Naokhamba recounted the life and works of Chingsubam Akaba, especially his activism towards promoting Meeteilol and Meetei Mayek, and bringing unity among the hill and valley people.

He mentioned that Akaba spearheaded the movement to replace Bengali script with Meetei Mayek for Manipuri subject in education.

He also informed that titular king of Manipur and Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba will attend the observance as the chief guest and appealed to the people to join the tribute event while urging CSOs or any organisations to refrain from calling bandhs or general strikes on the day.
