AMACSU demands clarification on PO post

Imphal, July 27 2025: Demanding clarification from the Art and Culture Department regarding the appointment of programme officer (PO) of the department within 15 days, All Manipur Arts and Culture Students' Union (AMACSU) warned of launching intense agitation in coordination with other student organisations.

AMACSU vice president Samurailatpam Abung Sharma told media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Sunday, that the art and culture department issued a notification on November 8, 2024 regarding additional criteria incorporated in the RR for recruitment of programme officer and called for objection, if any, within 30 days.

Accordingly, AMACSU opposed the new RR and placed reasons, thereof in detail to the department.

However, the department completed recruitment process for the said post, declaring the result without responding to the points raised by AMACSU.

Person holding the post must have fair knowledge of art and culture and competent in the field.

The new RR allows promotion of caretaker to programme officer if in service for at least seven years which AMACSU objected, Abung said.

Appealing to the department to clarify if the caretaker promoted to programme officer fulfilled essential qualification for the post, Abung demanded revocation of the appointment order if the candidate does not meet the qualification criteria.
