Youth Parliament venue shifted from assembly to MU

Imphal, March 26 2025: Despite making all the preparations to conduct the State Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament Festival-2025 at the House of Manipur Legislative Assembly, the festival venue was changed in the last minute at the Court Hall of Manipur University on Wednesday.

As per a directive of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the National Service Scheme (NSS) of Manipur University and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan jointly made preparations for conducting State Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament Festival-2025 under theme 'My Bharat' at the House of Manipur Legislative Assembly.

Speaker Th Satyabrata was scheduled to take part in the festival with Assembly secretary Rohit Sharma even issuing a notification inviting MLAs for the same.

The Youth Parliament was scheduled to begin from 10.45 am Wednesday and media persons invited to cover the event converged at Manipur Legislative Assembly complex before the scheduled time.

However, a matter came light that the festival would not be conducted at the assembly hall just few minutes before the scheduled time but there was no official statement.

Later, the venue of the festival was shifted to the Manipur University court hall.

Notably, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports informed all the states to conduct Youth Parliament festival to give platform to the youth to express their thoughts on Viksit Bharat @ 2047 vision.

It aims to foster leadership, civic participation and policy discussions among youth and students enabling them to deliberate on key national issues.

The Youth Parliament Festival-2025 at MU was attended by MU vice chancellor professor N Lokendra and students.

Meanwhile, a source informed that last-minute cancellation of the Festival at the Assembly and shifting to MU could be due to imposition of President's Rule and the state assembly kept under suspended animation.
