Equality Day held, saplings planted

Assam Rifles celebrated Women's Equality Day with the women of Mantripukhri Garrison, Sanjeevani, Imphal East district and Chandrakhong in Thoubal district on Monday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), about 100 local women at Mantripukhri Garrison and Chandrakhong attended the celebration that included lectures on women empowerment and screening of inspirational documentary besides conduct of an interaction programme between the women and Assam Rifles.
In another release, the PRO informed that Assam Rifles, in collaboration with students and teachers of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Ramva, planted 1600 saplings during a mass tree plantation drive on August 25 at Shakpao village in Ukhrul district.
Five teachers and 43 students participated in the plantation drive which began with a welcome address by the company commander of the Shakpao Company Operating Base, who highlighted the need to safeguard natural resources, particularly forests.
After the welcome speech, participants, alongside Assam Rifles personnel, cleaned the area and planted 1,600 saplings in public spaces throughout the village, added the PRO.
