TRI plans short film, photography contest

Imphal, July 27 2025:
Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Manipur has invited tribal filmmakers, aspiring creators, and storytellers from Manipur to participate in the Tribal Frames 2025; Manipur Short Film Challenge.
In a notification, TRI director LN Kashung informed that the short film competition celebrating arts, traditions, rituals, and crafts of indigenous communities is being organised as part of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh with the support of Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
The first prize of the competition carries Rs 50,000, Tribal Frames Trophy and certificate; Rs 30,000, trophy and certificate for second prize; and Rs 20,000, trophy and certificate for third prize along with a Special Jury Awards.
The notification also stated that the film duration should be of maximum 10 minutes of any genres, focused on life, culture, arts, crafts, traditions, or heritage of the tribal communities of Manipur, The last date of submission of entry is by 5 pm of September 15 .
As part of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh, TRI will also organise aState Level Photography Competition to showcase the rich tribal heritage of Manipur through photography in three categories, 'Tribal Costumes - Traditional attire, ornaments, and body art'; 'Tribal Festivals - Celebrations, dances, rituals, and performances; and 'Tribal Lifestyle � Daily life, customs, work, homes, and community practices', the TRI explained in another statement.
It informed that the top winner will be awarded Rs 20,000, Tribal Lens Trophy and certificate; second Rs 15,000, trophy and certificate; and third Rs 10,000, trophy and certificate.
