Imphal, November 04 2023:
After the success of first edition of 'HopeFest' wherein 50 displaced youths taking shelter in different relief camps were given benefits, the Imphal Buzz has started its second edition with the aim of providing new hopes and the opportunities for pursuing their desired profession, at Sappho Beauty & Wellness, Sangaiprou Maning Leikai on Saturday.
The Imphal Buzz is an organisation formed jointly by four like-minded people namely Swati Thounaojam, Jennifer Wangkhem, Lenin Kshetrimayum and Bidy-ananda Loukrakpam.
The organisation has now been registered as a trust under 'The RiseUp Foundation' .
The 'HopeFest' has been organised to provide opportunities to the inmates of relief camps sell their self-made products and also to give them a platform for pursuing their chosen profession as and when they leave the relief camps and settle in their respective places.
Speaking on the occasion, Foundation Trustee founder Swati Thounaojam noted that the ethnic conflict since May 3 has ruined livelihood sources and activities of many.
The festival is being organised to help mainly the youth to develop their skills and increase their power of self-dependence, she said.
Products made by the inmates including candles, incense sticks, dolls, dish wash, floor wash, flower pots, toys, edibles and various other indigenous items, etc., are being displayed for sale in the festival.
The inmates are also provided the opportunity to meet with renowned personalities, she said.
Swati also said that a person from Ukhrul is opening a stall where he will sell the products and donate the profits to the inmates of relief camps.
