Helpline aiding dengue containment in Singjamei

Dengue Help Line Centre, Singjamei Kendra chairman K Saratchandra has stated that precautionary measures are being taken up to prevent the spread of dengue in the constituency.
Addressing a press meet at the Centre's Singjamei Parking office, here, on Saturday, Saratchandra informed that the Centre was opened under the aegis of local MLA Y Khemchand on October 19 with the objective of spreading awareness among the people about dengue and its preventive measures.
The Malaria department has been assisting in this regard and volunteers helping to carry out fogging and other activities in the constituency, he said, while hoping that other constituencies would carry out similar activities as well.
According to Centre's convenor N Iboyaima, precautionary measures are being taken up stringently after the number of dengue cases in Singjamei rose alarmingly.
The Centre found dengue larvae in 75 out of 89 households in Singjamei and helped in testing 19 people of which 17 tested positive.
As of now, 430 people are reported infected with dengue of which three elderly patients succumbed.
Fogging is routinely being carried out in households with dengue patients, with most areas in the constituency already fogged.
As such, the dengue situation in the constituency in Singjamei is now under control, he assured, while adding that the measures will continue to prevent any more infections.
