An APP for the State submitted that a team of Women Police Station, Imphal East arrested Chandam Tababi alias Taniya and Khumanthem Nanao from Keibi and rescued one victim based on a written complaint on September 9 regarding the trafficking of around six young women/girls from Keibi area.
From the disclosure of Tababi and Nanao, two more accused Gaitri who run a unisex salon at Keishampat, and Bony were also arrested.
On examination, the victim stated that she was contacted by Nanao and Tababi at the instruction of Gaitri who engages women for 'employment' in New Delhi.
The victim also stated that she was not aware of the service she had to provide and the place where she had to work in Delhi.
Later Gaitri and Tababi told the victim that she had to entertain customers sexually.
Upon hearing that, she contacted one of her friends and sought help.
During interrogation, Gaitri admitted that she recruited the victim women as directed by Bony through Tababi who was her employee, and also stated that she is working for Bony in recruiting women for sexual exploitation in the name of offering jobs at Delhi.
Gaitri said she received a certain amount from Bony for recruiting women.
Gaitri also disclosed that Bony demanded some more women and she contacted Tababi who then brought the victim women.
During interrogation, Bony disclosed that he worked with one Ningombam Ronaldo in harbouring/transporting women to Delhi for exploitation without their consent at saloons, and received huge amounts of money for supplying women.
Notably, Ningombam Ronaldo was also arrested on September 16 from Delhi.
However, the main accused of the human trafficking racket has been absconding.

The Court, after hearing the submission of the APP, defence counsels and on perusal of the case record, remanded the accused persons in judicial custody.
