Imphal, June 10 2017: The 17th death anniversary of Aram-bam Samarendra was obser- ved by Samarendra Trust and Social Standard Club, Khurai Nandeibam Leikai today at Khurai Nandeibam Leikai.

Floral tribute was also paid to the portrait of Aram-bam Samarendra by the gathering.

Speaking at the observance, Arambam Lokendro, chairperson, Arambam Samarendra Trust, said, "After his death on June 10, 2000, we have been observing his death anniversary every year by organising various competitions.

A memorial lecture is also held every year from 2006 onwards" .

Tributes paid to Samarendra

Salam Shamungou, ex-president, Social Standard Club, said that a statue of Arambam Samarendra was erected and his death anniversary is being observed every year so that younger generations would remember him and his great works.

"Let us also carry forward his dream by working relentlessly for the welfare of society", he said.

The death anniversary of Arambam Samarendra was also observed by Manipur State Shumang Leela Council and Patriotic Writers' Forum Manipur at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen and Nungshikol Park respectively.

Retd Professor Soyam Lokendrajit gave a lecture on 'Peoples Resistance Movement Against Demographic Invasion In The North East : The Manipur Experience' in the Memorial event organised by Arambam Samarendra Trust at Lamyanba Shanglen.

MU Economic Department Head, Professor Amar Yumnam and Arambam Samarendra Trust chairperson Dr Lokendra Aramba were also present as presidium members.

The 17th death anniversary of Arambam Samarendra was also observed at JIMPAL autitorium, Jiribam under the aegis of Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) .
