New Delhi, October 30 2013:
In the final leg of hearing on the killing of Dr Th Kishan before the Special CBI Court, Public Prosecutor Advocate AK Singh today stated before the Court that the motive for the abduction of Dr Th Kishan, the then SDO of Kasom Khullen, was to demand a ransom of Rs 20 lakh by the accused, Hopson Ningshen.
The deceased's wife was present at today's hearing.
Moreover, accused Hopeson Ningshen, NSCN (IM) leader, currently in judicial custody, was also produced before the Court.
The Public Prosecutor stated that since the accused (Hopeson) failed to collect the said ransom from the deceased (Dr Kishan) who could not produce/pay the ransom amount, the accused was irritated and in a fit of anger killed him.
During the three days ordeal in captivity, Dr Kishan was told to communicate to his wife and family members to arrange the ransom, which he had inadvertently dismissed.
In his attempt to keep the family away, the deceased had also provided a wrong telephone number to the accused so as to make sure it does not reach to his family members.

The ransom demand was done earlier to Dr Kishan alone, but the second time was done in the presence of 6 witnesses in the jungle, 3 of whom have died.
There are 43 witnesses in the killing of Dr Kishan, the Public Prosecutor told The Sangai Express.
The charge sheet was filed in Ukhrul in 2009 and the trial began in a New Delhi Court from December 2010, said Singh.
All the witnesses have also testified and the accused had also admitted to the crime in his confessional statement.
Public Prosecutor argued to place the mater under section 364 IPC.
Killing is not being mentioned in the beginning (of the abduction) but the intention (of killing) is there right from the beginning, he argued.
The ransom demand does not reach the family members, does not mean there is no ransom demand, and is no point for defense, he argued.
The Prosecutor further told the Judge that all ransom demands, whether paid or unpaid, is followed by killing.
While the exact time of the death of Dr Kishan is yet to be argued and established, the cause of the death according to post mortem report was due to injury in the brain.
The hearing will continue till November 31, the defense arguments thereafter will follow.
