Imphal, January 30 2016 :
Majority of the State's LPG consumers are yet to submit their Aadhar numbers to their respective distributors and they may not get subsidized LPG refills if the same process is not completed by March 31this year.
According to official data received from the IOC, the total number of active LPG consumers of the State as on January 28 this year is 3,21,678.Out of them, 1,46,385 consumers have submitted their Aadhar numbers.
Out of those 1,46,385 consumers, Aadhar numbers of 81726 have been successfully seeded.
In another word, only 45.51 per cent of the total LPG consumers have submitted their Aadhar numbers and only 25.41 per cent have got their Aadhar numbers seeded.
There are also many cases where names of consumers, bank account numbers and Aadhar numbers are not compatible.
It is essential to make names of consumers, their Aadhar numbers and bank account numbers compatible.
If one has to get subsidy given by the Government of India on LPG refills continually, they must submit their Aadhar numbers by March 31, said an official source.
If consumers fail to submit their Aadhar numbers by March 31, they may not get subsidy on LPG refills from May 1 .
On the other hand, IOC has set a target of seeding Aadhar numbers of at least 90 per cent of the total LPG consumers of the State by March 31 .
For all consumers, it is mandatory to submit Aadhar numbers as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas even if they have already submitted their bank account numbers.
Transfer of LPG subsidy to bank accounts of consumers who have submitted account numbers but not Aadhar numbers may also be delayed, said the official.
Bank account numbers and Aadhar numbers have been necessitated following the Government of India's initiative to deliver subsidy given on LPG to consumers directly.
Both the Government and the IOC has been saying that it would be problematic to transfer LPG subsidy in the name of consumers if their bank account numbers and Aadhar numbers are not compatible.
There are reports about non-entry of subsidy amounts in the bank accounts of consumers who have submitted their account numbers but not Aadhar numbers.
