First Kuki IPS officer passes away

The first IPS officer among the Thadou-Kuki community and the tribal of Manipur Thangkhochon Misao, fondly known as T Misao passed away yesterday at Kangpokpi.
He was 81.He is survived by his wife Bimla Phakim Misao, son Dennis Sehminthang Misao, daughters Judith Nengkholam Narayan and Deborah Hatkhoneng Misao.
T Misao died of prolong illness yesterday evening at around 5:30 at his Seraphim residence in Kangpokpi town and the funeral ceremony was held today.
Thangkhochon Misao, born on Feb 2, 1935 at Sita, Tengnoupal in Manipur is the eldest son of (L) Phongseh Misao, chief of Lungphou village and (L) Phaljaneng Misao.
T Misao cracked the UPSC exam and was allotted IPS (WB cadre) in 1965 .
He retired as ADGP in 1996 after a fruitful career in the police.
Prominent social, Church and community leaders attended his funeral service here today at Kangpokpi.
He was a recipient of President's Police Medal for Meritorious Service and Samar Sewa Star Medal and Police Kathin Sewa Medal, Bar.
Late T Misao also served as Advisor to North East Council during 2005-2008 and Advisor to MGNREGS Northeast States from 2008 till his death.
Speaking at the funeral ceremony, C Doungel, former Minister of the State said that the nation and the State of Manipur in particular lost a great man in his death.
