State pays homage to Mahatma Gandhi

Imphal, January 30 2016 :
To pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary and others who gave their lives for the country's independence, the State Govt today oobserved the Martyrs' Day at GM Hall.
Chief Minister O Ibobi and Dy CM Gaikhangam led the gathering in offering floral tributes at the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi during the solemn function.
To mark the occasion, siren was blown for one minute starting from 10.59 am.
Later, the gathering joined the Nation in observing 2 minutes' silence in memory of those who were martyred in India's freedom struggle.

Siren was again blown for one minute at 11.02 am.
Speaking at the occasion, CM O Ibobi stated that the main objective of observing the day was to remind all concerned about the ideals of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and other martyred leaders.
He urged all concerned to protect the integrity of the Nation as envisioned by the late National leaders.
MPCC also organised the 68th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi today at Congress Bhawan.
CM, Dy CM and MPCC President, and prominent leaders of the State Congress party and workers attended the function.
