While various lawyers filed their respective vakalatnamahs (power of attorney) before the Th Manorama Death Inquiry Commission today the panel commenced examination of witnesses.
Amongst those who filed the power of attorney include one PN Choudhuri, Central Government Standing Counsel (CGSC), coun- sel on behalf of the Assam Rifles, informed sources said.
Choudhuri, who arrived from Guwahati, submitted before the Commission that he has not received and instructions for filling statements on affidavits.
The panel, however, asked him to file the same on July 26, said the source.
Witness who was examined by the panel today is one Khomdonbi, general secretary of Bamon Kampu Women�s Welfare Association.
Advocates S Lakhikanta along with his associates A Jagjit, K Rabei, N Homeshor and Th Shantikumar will appear on behalf of the victim�s mother Khumanleima.
For Manorama�s younger brother Thangjam Dorendra advocate N Koteshwor and his associates N Subash and M Rakesh will appear.
Advocates Ch Ngongo, Shantibala and Jhaljit would appear on behalf of All Bamon Kampu Development Association while Dolen Phurailatpam, along with his colleagues Kh Khogendro and Ch Surjit will appear in favour of Pureiromba Youth Club, bamon Kampu, added the source.
Additional Government advocate cum Public prosecutor Samida Devi has been appointed as the Commission�s counsel.
Counsels for the victims�s family and other parties prayed before the Commission to file statements/affidavits on Mon- day contending that owing to imposition of curfew they face inconveniences in contacting concerned parties.
The AR authorities have till date not furnished names of the security personnel involved in the arrest of Manorama from her residence on July 11 night.
Irilbung police station has already submitted the post mortem report of Manorama and FIRs registered on the matter.
