Imphal, June 17:
On a high after coming to power in many States of the country, the Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today conveyed its intention of fielding party nominees in all the seats for the six Autonomous District Councils.
Interacting with media persons before wrapping up his two day visit this morning, BJP's National General Secretary (Organisation) Ramlal confided that the saffron party would field its candidates in all the seats of the ensuing ADC polls to be held in the districts of Senapati, Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Churachandpur and Chandel as well as Kangpokpi sub-division.
"The Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, youth and women morchas of the Party are all active in Manipur and we are satisfied with their activities for the ensuing ADC and Lok Sabha polls," the BJP leader stated while noting that out of the party's 60 Mandals 50 are very active.
Confiding that BJP is equally focused on the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, he said 'with the changing political scenario in the country we have full confidence that BJP will definitely win the polls in Manipur as well as regain power at the National level'.
The Congress is losing ground because of its anti-people policies, particularly the steep price hike, Ramlal contended while insisting that 'the Congress hand (its symbol) is always for price hike contrary to its posture/claim as champions of the farmers' and the fact that they are internally pilfering the common people's stomach'.
While maintaining that people have lost confidence in the UPA Government owing to its own mis-governance and the ruling party is on the wane while the BJP is witnessing steady climb in the popularity chart, he noted that BJP is today in power in 12 States compared to the 7-8 ruled by the Congress.
Further affirming that after BJP comes to power in the Centre there would be special attention for the North East, the secretary also highlighted that BJP is firmly committed in India ascending to the super power status of the world.
with regard to the state of affairs in manipur, Ramlal alleged all round breakdown of the State's machinery to the extent of failing to protect life and property of the people.
The Congress-led Secular Progressive Front Govt has also failed to provide positive and systematic approach to bring political solution to the insurgency problem, he continued and lambasted the State Government for its inability to execute and complete Centrally sponsored welfare schemes in time.
owing to the 'unseen and unauthorised collection of taxes' and deplorable roads connecting neighbouring States price hike of essential goods is significantly higher in Manipur, the BJP leader charged.
Joining at the media briefing, BJP's Manipur unit president Dr H Borobabu Singh described as faulty policy the State Govt's concept of providing arms to villagers of Heirok opining that such a step would only trigger more unwanted events amongst the people.
"This is a clear example that the State accepts its blunder in safeguarding the public," he said while expressing that in the prevailing situation the Centre should intervene so as to check further aggravation of the situation.
