Imphal, June 17:
In connection with newspapers staying off the stand and ISTV, local cable network, going off the air following strong pressure from a faction of the proscribed KCP (MC), a joint meeting of the journalists was held at Manipur Press Club here yesterday.
After a detailed deliberation on the issue, the meeting unanimously adopted four resolutions, according to a statement issued by general secretary of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU).
The resolutions include not to publish or broadcast any news related to allegation and counter-allegation of the UG groups, to resume printing of newspapers and airing of local cable network ISTV from June 17 in public interest, not to entertain any press release received after 7 pm and to appeal to KCP (MC) to respect the code of conduct of AMWJU like other organisations working for the cause of the people/State and withdraw the ban imposed on media.
