Foundation stones for Sessions Courts laid

Amid the 24 hour Ukhrul district bandh called by the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today laid the foundation stone of District Sessions Court complex at old SDO office, Rayotang here.
The CM was accompanied by Dy CM Gaikhangam, Chief Justice of Manipur HC Laxmikanta Mohapatra, Judges Kotiswar Singh, Khwairakpam Nabin, Parliamentary Secretary Victor Keishing, Vice Chairman of HAC Z Kikhonbou, PDA Chairman Mangi Babu, MLAs J Panmei and Samuel Risom, Commdt 41 AR and other officials.
The CM's entourage was airlifted to Ukhrul.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chief Minister said that towards the realisation of dispensing justice for a more secured life, the State Government is planning to set up Sessions Courts at every district soon.
He said that construction of the Court complex will be done in a time bound manner.
The CM also clarified that a Masjid, which is ordered to be destroyed for the construction of the Court complex, would be constructed at another suitable site while urging the Muslim community not to harbour any misgivings for dismantling the same.
O Ibobi also urged Ukhrul denizens to preserve and protect the abode of Shirui Lily, the State flower.
Hunphun/ Ukhrul Village and Hundung village authorities have at the same time submitted a memorandum to the CM raising various demands.
Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul, Modak Hrisheekesh Arvind in his welcome speech said that the District Sessions Court complex will have a bank and a post office.
Dy CM Gaikhangam speaking at the occasion said that the culture of boycott can never bring solution to any problem.
He urged all concerned to shun mob justice which is prevalent in the State.
The Chief Minister also attended the foundation stone laying ceremony of the District and Sessions Court at Khoupiluang, Tamenglong district later in the day.
The programme was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Laxmi Kanta Mahapatra, Chief Justice, High Court of Manipur, Nongmeikapam Kotiswar Singh and Khwairakpam Nobin Singh, Judges, High Court of Manipur, Tamenglong Assembly Constituency MLA Janghemlung Panmei, Tamei Assembly Constituency MLA Z Kikhonbou, RH Gonmei, Deputy Commissioner, Tamenglong, Joseph Pauline, ADM, Tamenglong, A Noutunesawari, Secretary, District Legal Services, village chairmen and other social leaders.
A number of memoranda was submitted to the Chief Minister by various organizations and NGOs.
Responding to the memorandum submitted by Namkaoluang Village Authority to set up a legal clinic and a Primary Health Sub-Centre, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh assured the people to fulfil their requests.
The Chief Minister further gave assurance to complete the ring road construction work in the district headquarters before the monsson season.
Deputy Chief Minister, Gaikhangam said that by undertaking various developmental projects, the State Government would put in efforts to make Tamenglong as one of the developed districts of the State.
