Imphal, February 12 2015 :
): After they had registered a strong protest against un-authorized collection of money by police, drivers of trucks plying along Imphal-Dimapur section of NH-2 on Thursday threatened to launch a steering down strike from February 20 next.
On February 10 last, over 150 Imphal-bound loaded trucks coming from Dimapur side stranded at Mao Gate, registered protest against the alleged collection of entry fee from the trucks at Mao police check post and other check posts on the stretch of the highway from Mao to Imphal.
Despite the intervention of the Superintendent of Police, Senapati District, no agreement was arrived at between the police and protesting drivers.

Setting the February 20 deadline, the union drew the attention of the State Government to streamline the mode of collecting entry fees from the truckers.
Senapati District Drivers Welfare Union, Manipur and Surface Transport Hills Area Drivers Welfare Union, Manipur have submitted a joint memorandum to the Deputy Chief Minister as well as the DG of police on the issue.
