Imphal, July 31 2010:
Three occupants of a truck died on the spot while nine others including four women were injured when the truck they were travelling plunge into a roadside drainage while negotiating muddy road of the Imphal-Jiribam section of the NH-53 last night, at about 7 pm.
The truck (MN-04/9124) plunge into the deep drainage at the roadside while negotiating highly deteriorated muddy stretch of the highway at Old Keiphundai, 15 km from Jiribam where landslide occurred recently, official reports received here.
The empty truck was heading Jiribam from Imphal side.
The driver of the truck identified as Mutum Ratan (30) son of late Modhumangol of Khurai Sajor Leikai, Imphal was among the three died at the spot.
The other two victims were Md Anamuddin (28) son of Ali Ahmad of Ujantarapur of Assam's Cachar district and Adim Rongmei (30) son of Khongchunga Rongmei of Keiko, Tamenglong district presently residing at New Alipur of Jiribam.
Four among the nine injure persons were women and have been evacuated at hospital at Jiribam.
They were Pounguleiu (35) Ramgaijang, Ajinleiu (40) Ramgaijang, Aku Ali Laskar of Ujantarapur Cachar Assam, L Amarjit (23) of Benakandi Cachar Assam, Shahid Ahmed (38) of Baskandi Cachar Assam, Shahid Ahmed, (20) of Ujantarapur Cachar Assam, Jaganath, Karimganj and Chanchanleiu (20) of Namdailong, Jiribam.
They were shifted to Silchar Medical Hospital after attending first aids at the Community Health Center, Jiribam.
Most of the occupants were lifted from the way, the report said.
