One must work hard to achieve his/her goal.
It has been proved right once again by Dr A Devadutta Sharma, Associate Professor of Gastrointestinal Surgery, RIMS Hospital, as he has joined the network of global medical scientists whose research works are acclaimed all over the world.
The medical scientist has become one of the few doctors of the country whose research work has been prominently featured in the internationally acclaimed journal, Recent Advances in Surgery, published by the Royal Society of Medicine, United Kingdom.
In an exclusive interaction with The Sangai Express, Dr A Devdutta, a resident of Bamon Leikai, said that his MS dissertation entitled, Role of abdominal drains in perforated duodenal ulcer patients: A prospective controlled study, has been cited as the only one of its kind in the prestigious journal.

Dr Devadutta, graduated and trained in MS, General Surgery from JIPMER before undergoing superspecialization in GI surgery from the prestigious AIMS, New Delhi.
His research work was first published in the Australian-New Zealand Journal of Surgery (ANZJ) in 1999 .
He said, "Although my work has gathered more than 30 different citations in more than half a dozen languages including International surgical textbooks, my hard work finally entered the big league of worldwide research works only after it was referred by Prof Peirre-Alain Clavien and his group in their journal in 2004" .
After the entry, he added, there was no looking back, the research work was represented as the only study which got through the stringent criteria of systematic review in its category and awarded Level of Evidence B2 and got recommendation of Grade B .
Dr A Devadutta Sharma's work has been referred in Lagenbeck's Archives of Surgery, Liver Transplantation, World Journal of Surgery, World Journal of Gastroenterology, Obesity Surgery, Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery and Gastrointestinal Medicine and Surgery (German edition) so far.
His recommendations have also been cited and endorsed by many reputed International surgical textbooks including Maingt's Abdominal Operations, Surgical Pitfalls: Prevention and Management; Abdominal wall Hernias: Principal and Management, Advanced Surgical Practice, Current Diagnosis and Treatment Surgery, Emergency Surgery, to name a few.
Dr A Devadutta Sharma is also one of the members of the globally networked medical community, including Biomed Experts.
