In view of the Commonwealth Games 2010, scheduled in October, Manipur emporium is set to have a facelift.
Officials from State Commerce and Industries Department have visited the emporium to renovate it.
Visiting Principal Secretary O Nabakishor Singh said the work would be completed within one month.
He informed The Sangai Express that additional handloom and handicraft products would be brought from Manipur for sale during the Games.
He stated that exhibition would be held during the Games at Dilli Haat, where weavers and master crafts from State would be taking part.
sources said the emporium at an average sells handloom and handicraft product of Rs 2-3 lakhs every year.
While expecting large sale as over 1 lakh visitors are expected during the Games, emporium staff said that tourists were normally taken by their guides to private stalls or show rooms, such as the cottage industries.
as a part of the preparations, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit met Resident Commissioners of State Bhawans in New Delhi.
The emporium is located in the major renovation sector at Connaught place.
