NPP welcomes new members, MLA Shanti vows development

National People's Party (NPP) Phubala Unit held a reception ceremony of Moirang MLA Thongam Shanti on Sunday, along with reception of 355 new members from 88 households into the party at Ibudhou Loktak Maru Shanglen in Phubala.
Of the new entrants, 54 households were earlier aligned with Congress while 34 were from BJP .
The new members, hailing from Phubala Gram Panchayat Wards No 1, 2, 3 and 4, were inducted into the party by MLA Shanti, who presented them with NPP's scarf.
The reception was attended by NPP Moirang Kendra president Ph Megha, chief advisor Y Modhu, political affairs chairman S Kumar, acting president Haji Ithem, political affairs secretary Haji, and social worker Md Anwar Ali.

Welcoming the new members, MLA Shanti expressed satisfaction with the growing public support for NPP and said that development works would be planned in consultation with the people of Phubala.
He criticised the incomplete state of the Multi-Sports Stadium in Phubala, which was intended for the whole Bishnupur district, noting that a CBI case has reportedly been registered over financial irregularities.
He also said that steps are being taken to demolish and reconstruct the underground parking facility in front of INA at Moirang.
Referring to other local infrastructure, he said that the tourist home in Phubala is in poor condition but efforts are on to secure more funds from the Ministry for a larger project.
He also assured that the Meira Shang and club building in Phubala would be constructed soon, provided there are no land disputes.
Shanti announced that an open gym will be installed in Phubala shortly and that he will bear the monthly water tax of Rs 200 for 241 households until the number of connected households reaches 500 .
He further assured that Phubala would receive an improved water supply within two months.
The MLA reiterated his commitment to ensuring that every village in Moirang AC will have an open gym during his tenure.
Plans for a modern building of CHC Moirang are also underway, along with additional support to install an operation theatre.
He urged the people to work together for meaningful change in Moirang AC and said that NPP is open to all those willing to contribute to development.
