Awareness prog on minorities' welfare schemes held

A day long awareness programme on the welfare schemes for the minorities was organised by Santhel Khong Mapal Club (SKMC) under the aegis of Manipur State Minorities Commission at Umarwali Masjid compound in Santhel Khong Mapal, Kakching on Monday.
The programme was attended by Wabagai ex-MLA Md Fajur Rahim, Manipur State Minorities Commission chairperson Md Anwar Hussain and Hayel Hangoon GP former ward member Md Ningthem as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Anwar Hussain informed that the government of India has been implemented various welfare schemes for Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Parsis, who are recognised as minorities.
To ensure that the minority communities reap benefit of such schemes the minorities department has been conducting awareness programmes at different locations, he explained.
