Imphal, June 04 2025: An oil tanker carrying 12 kiloliters of diesel plunged into a gorge at a location between Kambiron and Barak along the Imphal-Jiribam road (National Highway-37) today at around 7.30 am .

The truck, which was the last in the line of POL (Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants) trucks escorted by a CRPF convoy, was coming from Jiribam towards Imphal.

The owner of the ill fated truck is from Assam.

According to reports, the truck, which was being driven solo without a helper, plunged into the gorge.

The driver escaped unharmed by jumping out of the truck just before it plunged into the gorge.

No oil spillage has been observed at the accident site so far.
