MAYOL's campaign held at 50 locations

Imphal, April 17 2024:
Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) successfully organised mass awareness campaign "Eikhioigi Anouba Laang-on gi Vote" at 50 location during its 21-day campaign.
In a release, publicity secretary M Premananda recounted that MAYOL conducted a long march (Lamshang Khongchat) carrying the message of 'A New Era for Manipuri Society' from December 20, 2023 till January 9, 2024 .
The march concluded with a public meeting at Manipur University campus adopting seven resolutions (Langthabal Declaration) .
With an aim to put the said resolutions particularly the second resolution, into practice, the mass awareness campaign "Eikhoigi Anouba Laang-on gi Vote" was launched on March 24 .
As part of the campaign, a booklet produced by MAYOL titled "Eikhoigi Anouba Lang-on gi Paojel" was released along with distributing leaflets carrying the message of changing the system of election.
The release further informed that as part of the campaign, a public meeting was held at the Manipur University Traffic Island wherein Prof Chin-glen Maisnam and retired IAS RK Nimai highlighted issues confronting the state, means to tackle the issue and the need to have a good government to end the present crisis in the state.
MAYOL president Ashem Prince who was present during the meeting said that the Manipuri society had been inside a cocoon layered by dirty politics and as such had not been able to take part in the race for development.
The trend of rich people joining electoral politics is the trend in the state.
As such, MAYOL is of the opinion that the state lacks real public leaders, the release said while stressing the need for all to contribute in building up a society where there is free and fair election of genuine people's leaders.
The release further informed that the MU meeting will be last before the Lok Sabha (Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency) elections, though the campaign will continue.
