Bishnupur, August 27 2024:
Demanding revocation of the order for transfer of three teachers of Thanga Higher Secondary School by August 30, students of the school staged protest demonstration and resolved to remain at the school overnight until the teachers are reinstated.
During the protest launched by School's DESAM council inside the campus, the student protestors informed reporters that the school, upgraded from a high school to higher secondary in 2019 under the School Phagathansi Mission, has been perennially facing shortage of teachers.
Rather than addressing teachers' shortage, the government issued an order transferring three teachers of Geography, Sociology and English from the school, which is irrational and strongly condemnable, they said and reiterated the appeal for cancellation of the transfer orders and assigning additional teachers to the school.
They also appealed to the local MLA and the ZEO to address the issue, as both have assured of taking necessary action.
However, the transfer of the three teachers, without first resolving the existing shortage, is unacceptable, the protesting students asserted.
