MBCWB alerts on false claims of medical benefit transfers

Imphal, April 29 2024: The account transfer facility7 of the amount for medical benefits of labourers who have been registered under the Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (MBCWB) is still pending processing, informed board chairperson K Sarat.

Addressing the media at his New Secretariat office chamber, K Sarat stated that the board has become aware of certain individuals who have acquired necessary documents and bank details of registered labourers under MBCWB.

These individuals claim to facilitate the transfer of medical benefits to the respective bank accounts of these labourers, which is untrue, as the board has not even discussed the process of transferring funds to bank accounts, cautioned the chairman.

He further clarified that while the board does provide medical benefits to labourers when needed, there is no provision to extend these benefits to all registered labourers under MBCWB.

The board operates independently without influence from any external group or individual and will continue to do so, he maintained.

K Sarat also informed that registered labourers can apply for education benefit by July 2024 and appealed to all concerned to apply in time for availing the benefit.
