IRB trooper on R-Day duty dies

Imphal, January 27 2025: A trooper of the 11th IRB, who was on duty in connection with the Republic Day celebrations on Sunday, collapsed and passed away shortly afterward.

The deceased has been identified as Athokpam Devdutta (32) s/o (L) Imo Singh of Bamon Kampu Okram Leirak.

According to a police report, Devdutta (rifleman number 01123358) fainted in Singjamei Thongkhong area around 5 am Sunday.

He was immediately rushed to Advanced Hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead.

In this regard, Singjamei PS has registered an unnatural death (UD) case.

His body was handed over to family later in the day after post mortem examination at RIMS morgue.

The report further stated that Devdutta was assigned duty at Singjamei Thongkhong as part of security measures for the Republic Day celebrations.
